Founded in 1905, the High Museum of Art gained a permanent home in the High family residence when it was donated in 1926.
In 1983 the museum moved to its present location and became the Southeast's leading art museum. The High welcomes almost 500,000 visitors annually and houses a collection of over 11,000 works.
Photography and folk art exhibits are housed in the Georgia Pacific Center downtown.
Insider Tip: Check out the Louvre Atlanta, an unprecedented partnership between the High Museum of Art and the MuseƩ du Louvre in Paris. The exhibit will bring hundreds of works of art from the Louvre's collections to Atlanta over the course of the next 3 years.
