Underground Atlanta

Located in the heart of Downtown and covering six city blocks, Underground Atlanta was once just a rail yard.

Over time, however, the city built up and over the rail lines. When the tracks were no longer needed, the abandoned sub-level was turned into a mixed-use development. Thus Underground Atlanta was born.

Today there are over 100 specialty stores, restaurants, and bars in Underground (as it's known to locals). Recent additions are Future -- a high-energy dance club, Alley Cat (a rock and roll restaurant and bar), Latin Sol (a salsa club with the largest wooden dance floor in Atlanta), Island Oasis (a show bar), Koco's Latin Restaurant and Bar (a Caribbean restaurant and karaoke bar), Jamaica Jamaica (a restaurant and bar with live reggae), and Irish Breed (an Irish pub).

A special exception to the city laws allows you to go from bar to bar with drink in had until 4 a.m. (Bars in other parts of the city must close by 3 a.m. and public consumption of alcohol is prohibited).
