Annie Leibovitz's 20-Cover "Vanity Fair"
Annie Leibovitz (see our interview with her) has paired up 21 different personalities for the new 20-cover Africa issue of "Vanity Fair"...
We're partial to the two featuring Madonna, who speaks out about her Raising Malawi initiative. She's photographed alongside Djimon Hounsou on one cover and with Maya Angelou on the other. Guest-edited by Bono, the issue is on sale through July.
The Africa "Vanity Fair" also features an interview with Madonna and Dr. Jim Yong Kim, a Harvard professor whose work has led to greatly improved AIDS treatment in Africa.
Says Madonna:
"No one's addressing what it feels like to lose your parents, and what's going on in the heads and hearts of these kids. If they're the future of the country, then we need to do something about it."
Annie Leibovitz's latest exhibition, "Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer's Life: 1990-2005" is on display through September 9th at the High Museum of Art.
