"Queer Eye" Guys Invade Atlanta

Thom FeliciaWith its final season premiering October 2 on Bravo, the "Queer Eye" guys are quickly finding other ways to fill their time...

W Hotels announced not long ago that style guru Thom Felicia (pictured) would be designing the interior of the new W Atlanta-Buckhead. W Hotels says, "Thom's signature use of simple strong lines, a muted palette with splashes of bold color and rich textures and patterns will maintain the grand traditions of Southern hospitality at the W Atlanta-Buckhead. Thom’s approach will also combine a comfortable, urban style with the city’s deep history and culture."

And on October 13-14, cuisine guru Ted Allen will appear at Taste of Atlanta. The annual celebration features over 70 of Atlanta's best restaurants, celebrity chefs and cooking demonstrations. Get your tickets here or at Cook's Warehouse locations.

Britney Spears House Hunting in Atlanta?

Britney SpearsAfter her VMA disaster, hit and run charges, and alcohol and drug testing, Britney Spears has run off again -- this time to paparazzi-free Atlanta!

If only Whitney was still here to comfort her! The two crazies could have shared a bottle vial of coke while gabbing about divorcing loser husbands, getting rid of annoying children who got in the way of their careers, and trying to make a comeback.

Instead, we hear Britney's in town actually working -- meeting with Pharrell and Dallas Austin to finish a track called "Rockstar" for her new album. But could she be house hunting as well?

Look what she told Matt Lauer last summer:

Lauer: Can you imagine ever living anywhere else? Could you pick up from here and go to small town America again?

Spears: Maybe... I could go to Atlanta. I've been to Atlanta. I like suburbia-type areas... I love where I live right now. It's really beautiful and stuff like that, but if I have to move in five years, I could do it.

Lauer: You could recreate this type of setting, this type of a sanctuary in another city, that would be fine with you.

Spears: Yeah... mmm hmm.

Lauer: And maybe escape a little of the attention.

Spears: Yeah, if they would leave me, but I don't know if that would happen...

Last month WETbar brought you New Kids on the Block's Jordan Knight. This month its Lisa Lisa, the International Pop Diva with hits like "All Cried Out," "Lost in Emotion," "Head to Toe" and many more.

Lisa Lisa (born Lisa Velez) and her band Cult Jam were one of the original American Latin freestyle groups of the 1980s. The group released their debut album, "Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam with Full Force" in 1985.

After several hit albums throughout the 80s, Lisa Lisa resurfaced in 2001 on the Nickelodeon series "Taina," where she played the lead character's mother. She is gearing up to release a new solo album next year.

LeAnn Rimes' "Good Intentions"

LeAnn Rimes LeAnn Rimes will soon debut on the big screen alongside Luke Perry in "Good Intentions," a movie that just finished shooting in Atlanta...

Also shot in Newborn and Rutledge, Georgia, "Good Intentions" is Rimes' first movie as an actress, except for when she played herself in "Coyote Ugly." Here's what it's about according to the Georgia Film, Video & Music commission:

"Etta Milford is a loving wife, doting mother and armed robber. Inspired by the success stories on 'The Antiques Roadshow,' Etta decides to invest in antiques and sell them off to bankroll her kids' college fund. To raise investment capital, Etta dons a ski mask and moonlights as the county's most wanted criminal.

She turns the fictional town of Myra, Georgia upside down, outwitting local authorities and pulling heists between carpools and little league games. Etta's plan takes an interesting turn as she uses her loot to purchase "antiques" that she doesn't realize are fakes."

"Good Intentions" also stars Elaine Hendrix, Randy McDowell, and Greg Alan Williams.

Annie Lennox In the 15 years since the release of her solo album, Annie Lennox has built the most successful career of any British female artist in pop history...

Is Atlanta Deserving Of Design?

Vern YipWednesday is the premiere of designer and Atlanta resident Vern Yip's new show he's been shooting all around town...

"Deserving Design" follows on the heels of feel-good design dramas like "Extreme Home Makeover." In Vern's case, he designs one room for a different family in need each week -- well actually two (the second room is a surprise).

Our favorite part of the show, however, is Yip's co-star, Abercrombie model Kyle Carlson, who plays the show's lead carpenter. You know who he is... the male model who posed for "risque" photos alongside his twin brother for Bruce Weber and Greg Gorman.

Ever since he appeared on Oprah, Vern Yip (pictured) has been a favorite among design show viewers. Shot all around Atlanta, the first couple of episodes help out Hurricane Katrina victims. The Christmas episode in December will follow Vern to his Atlanta home for a peek inside. "Deserving Design" airs at 8 p.m. Wednesdays on HGTV.

Dave Matthews @ Blake's on the Park

Dave Matthews We hear Dave Matthews decided to have a drink at Blake's on the Park during the sound check for his "Green Concert" at Piedmont Park Saturday...

The concert, which raised $1 million for Piedmont Park's expansion, was funded by Matthews because of his interest in environmental issues and his wife Ashley Harper, who grew up in Vinings and attended The Westminster Schools with us in Buckhead.

As his tour bus drove past Blake's after the concert Friday night, Matthews must have heard the drag queens yelling "go back to Cobb County!" at the crowd walking home -- because on Saturday, that's exactly what he did by visiting his in-laws in Vinings.
